Under a Gibbous Moon
(The arch devil Belphegor)
(For Benjamin Szwmsky)
For we have haunted the weaker thoughts
To go the shorter way,
And we have danced to Belphegor’s drums
(stiff with porcupine skin),
Scheming home to pray
To serve the master in the night,
Another in the day!
